Cowboy mounted shooting on the Gulf Coast — fast horses, blazing revolvers, and real Western tradition.
The South Texas Gunslingers are a family-friendly cowboy mounted shooting club based in Brazoria County, Texas. Founded in 2021 by Trish and Jeff Thompson, the club has grown fast — bringing the country's fastest-growing equestrian sport to the Gulf Coast. Riders compete on horseback, firing .38 caliber single-action revolvers loaded with blanks at a course of balloon targets, all against the clock.
We shoot and practice at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds in Angleton and welcome riders of every level, from first-timers in Class 1 to seasoned competitors. Whether you want to chase a championship or just learn the sport, you'll find a welcoming crew, Western tradition, and a whole lot of fun. New riders are always welcome — no experience necessary.
Come ride with us. Matches, practices, and clinics — all welcome, new riders too.
